Based in San Antonio, Texas, the Dinosaur George Company is most renowned for its captivating Traveling Museum. We bring the thrilling world of natural history directly to schools, PreK through High School, across Texas and the continental United States. Our traveling museum, proudly sponsored by San Antonio PBS affiliate, KLRN, transforms any gymnasium or facility into an educational and exciting natural history museum.
Our traveling museum showcases a diverse range of prehistoric creatures, with a primary focus on dinosaurs. From massive dinosaur skulls to intricate fossil replicas, we present exhibit pieces from around the world, and every time period, that captivate young minds and spark their interest in paleontology and natural sciences. In addition to dinosaurs, we feature other fascinating prehistoric animals such as fish and mammals, providing a comprehensive view of Earth's history.
To ensure a smooth and hassle-free experience, our dedicated team will arrive the day prior to the event or early in the morning, depending on the location. The setup and removal process typically takes 2-3 hours, depending on the facility and museum layout. We kindly request that clients who book our traveling museum ensure their venue has double doors with a removable center pole or roll-up garage doors for our larger exhibit crates. In cases where these options are unavailable, please inform us in advance, and we will bring alternative exhibit pieces that fit. Please note that crates cannot be moved across dirt, gravel, or grass, nor can they be transported upstairs. To determine if your facility meets the necessary space requirements, our team is happy to provide a brief free consultation.
The cost of hosting the Dinosaur George Traveling Museum is $3,500 plus travel fees. To support schools in the same general area, we offer a generous discount for consecutive museum events (excluding weekends). This discount encourages collaboration among schools and allows more students to benefit from our enriching program. We understand the financial challenges faced by schools, and as a gesture of support, we also offer a donation program. During the event, our staff will set up and manage a small gift shop area within the museum. At the end of the event, the Dinosaur George Company presents a cash donation of 20% of all gift shop sales back to the school. In 2022, the average donation amounted to $621, making a significant contribution to school funding. It's important to note that this donation program does not count towards PTSA/PTA's yearly fundraiser quota but provides essential support to the school community.
Booking the Dinosaur George Traveling Museum is a simple and straightforward process. View our calendar located here on our website to check for available dates. We recommend having a few dates in mind to increase the chances of securing your preferred slot. Once you've selected potential dates, complete our convenient online booking form. Upon receiving and reviewing your request, our team will promptly contact you to finalize the details and address any inquiries you may have. We recommend booking 3-4 months in advance to secure your ideal date and allow ample time for marketing to nearby schools for potential group discounts.
At the Dinosaur George Traveling Museum, we believe in the power of visual and hands-on learning. Our museum is packed with a variety of exhibits, including real fossils and replica bones, that students can examine and explore through worksheets, scavenger hunts, and detailed displays. This interactive approach fosters curiosity and enables children to connect with the ancient past in a meaningful way.
Our traveling museum is more than just a collection of artifacts; it's an educational journey designed to inspire young minds. Through captivating exhibits and informative presentations, we encourage students to ask questions, think critically, and develop a deeper understanding of Earth's history. By engaging with the awe-inspiring world of dinosaurs and prehistoric mammals, children enhance their scientific observation, classification, and interpretation skills.
The Dinosaur George Traveling Museum is adaptable to students of all ages, from PreK to High School. We understand that each school has unique needs and requirements, and our team is committed to tailoring the experience to suit your specific educational goals.
