“Dinosaur George” Blasing is a self taught paleontologist and animal behaviorist with more than 40 years of study and research. Blasing is a public speaker, author, and television host and writer who has performed live to over 4 million people and has lectured in over 4000 museums, schools and public events. He is the writer, co-creator and host of JURASSIC FIGHT CLUB on the History Channel.
Dinosaur George has spent over 25 years teaching Elementary, Intermediate and Middle school students about the amazing creatures that once ruled our planet. He has volunteered his time to make hundreds of appearances in children’s hospitals, Boys and Girls Clubs, YMCA’s and Boys and Girls Scouting events. With the addition of his traveling museum, he is now able to bring an entire museum to the schools he visits.
Using vacation time and personal leave, Blasing volunteered numerous hours traveling to elementary schools to teach children about dinosaurs and other prehistoric life. After visiting a school in San Antonio, he received a letter from a parent whose son was only 6 years old. The child had previously stated that he wanted to join a gang and drop out of school. After attending Dinosaur Georges’ lecture he came home and announced that he wanted to do better in school so he could become a “Dinosaur Man” like Dinosaur George. The impact of this letter caused Mr. Blasing to reevaluate his life’s priorities. “If I can change one life by lecturing to children”, he said, “then I need to find a way to become more available to do so.”
In 1997 George Blasing quit his lucrative retail career and dedicated his life to educating children and adults about the amazing creatures that once ruled our planet. In August of 1997, he opened his own chain of retail stores called “Dinosaur World”. Through these science/education based stores Blasing was able to dedicate more time to public speaking.
In 2007 he co-created, wrote and hosted a 12 part series for The History Channel called Jurassic Fight Club.
To promote the importance of reading, Dinosaur George sets aside his summer months to go on a state wide tour of Texas libraries. He performed in over 60 libraries each year, and encourages thousands of children to read.
With his vast knowledge of prehistoric life, expertise in animal behaviors, and powerful on camera presence, Dinosaur George is a highly respected and sought after public figure who shares his love of “all things prehistoric” with throngs of enthusiastic fans.
